We Want to Be in Your Corner

Helping Families Feel Confident, Capable, and Supported

It’s Heldwell’s mission to support new and growing families with calm, compassionate, and evidence-based perinatal education and lactation support so they will feel confident, capable, and empowered as they grow their family.

We believe how parents are supported through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum shapes their confidence, their bond with their baby, and the family they're becoming.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Lauren Cochran, BSN, RN, CPN, RNC-OB, IBCLC

My career began as a pediatric nurse at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where I spent eight years caring for children and families. I still hold my certification as a Certified Pediatric Nurse. During those years in Chicago, my husband and I welcomed our first two children—and becoming a mother began to shape the way I understood healthcare in a deeply personal way.

After moving to the suburbs, I found my way to labor and delivery, where we welcomed our third child, I became a childbirth educator, and earned my RNC-OB certification. As a labor and delivery nurse, I have spent years caring for families during some of their most vulnerable and meaningful moments, including providing breastfeeding support in the hospital. That work eventually led me to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing this season of life from both sides: as the nurse caring for families and as the mother navigating pregnancy, birth, feeding, and all the questions that come with bringing a baby home. That perspective has shaped the way I care for families today.

Motherhood has deepened my appreciation for just how much compassionate, knowledgeable support can mean during such a transformative season of life. It has reminded me that even those of us who work in healthcare don’t always have all the answers—and that sometimes what we need most is someone who will listen, offer guidance without judgment, and meet us exactly where we are.

That’s a big part of why I created Heldwell. I want families to feel informed, supported, and confident as they navigate pregnancy, birth, feeding, and the early days of parenthood.

Thank you for considering Heldwell to be part of your story. It would be an honor to walk alongside you in this chapter.

“Lauren's passion and intentionality are unmistakable. As the dad and support person for my wife through labor and delivery, I expected to feel like a bystander waiting for the next thing. Lauren made sure I wasn't.

She checked in with us, answered all our questions, and showed us exactly what to expect instead of leaving us guessing. That changed the entire experience for us. Our daughter's birth was everything we hoped for, and Lauren was a huge part of why. I recommend her without hesitation.”
